Bollywood Vampires, Part 5:
The Exoticization of an Indian Women

I love to wear a saree, but what I don't like is the treatment I get from non-Indian males when I wear a saree. We are treated like we are stupid, weak, helpless, fragile sexual creatures that need to be protected from evil dark Indian men and we need to be "saved" by white men (and some black men). Worse of all, we are made to feel like we are sex objects that just stepped out of the Kama Sutra and we are here to serve white guys and please their straight male gaze.

I hate how I am made to feel fetishized, exoticized, and objectified when I wear a saree out in public in the White Man's Land. When I am in a saree surrounded by Indians, I am treated normal. When I am in a saree surrounded by foreigners, I am made to feel like a sex object, a porn star, a prostitute, an Orientalist fantasy. Our sarees are not some sort of a costume for your perveted fantasies. Our sarees are a huge part of our culture, some of us wear it everyday, some of us wear it to work and to school, while some others of us wear it on special occassions. Saree is a legitimate piece of cloth that women actually wear and function in, it's not a fuckin' costume.

SIT YOUR ASS DOWN AND AVERT YOUR EYES AND DON'T FUCKIN' BELITTLE ME! Fuckin' gora perverts.
