This is a play-on with the tired, sexist Hollywood stereotyping of the classic Damsel in Distress, where the woman is assumed to be stupid and helpless, that she always needs to be saved by a big, strong man. Imagine how MALES would feel if the gender roles were reversed.
Unfortunately, we see the DAMSEL IN DISTRESS so often times in current Hollywood movies, especially with comic book/superhero movie adaptations.
